Position Summary

The Research Financial Services (RFS) department at University Health Network provides post-award financial management for federal, provincial, international, and private research contracts and grants across six Research Institutes. As a key member of the Grants Management team, this Financial Analyst II plays a critical role in supporting the financial operations and reporting of donor/research funds, with a particular focus on collaboration with the finance team at the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation (PMCF).

Duties

  • Fund Review & Repurposing: Analyze aged research funds to identify opportunities for repurposing in alignment with donor intent and institutional priorities.
  • Donor Stewardship Reporting: Prepare comprehensive financial reports for donors, including detailed stewardship reports for repurposed or aged funds.
  • Commitment Control: Monitor and manage financial commitments to ensure accurate forecasting and fund utilization.
  • Scorecard Development: Design and maintain a scorecard to track and visualize key data points, highlighting the volume and impact of financial transactions.
  • Investment Recording: Support the recording and reconciliation of research-related investments in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
  • Internal Reporting: Generate timely and accurate financial reports for internal leadership and committee meetings, providing insights and recommendations as needed.

Qualifications

  • University Degree in Business Administration or equivalent
  • Three - Five years (3-5) related experience in an accounting environment with exposure to a range of accounting principles, practices and procedures
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellent client service and satisfaction
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills with strong organization and time management skills
  • Skill in accurately performing detailed numerical computations in a timely manner using large amounts of financial and/or statistical data
  • Sound professional judgment, initiative, and the ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines
  • Strong knowledge of computer application accounting systems & software applications, preferably in a Microsoft Office environment (i.e., Excel, Word, Access)
