The Ted Rogers Centre for Heart Research is a collaborative research and education program that spans across UHN, the Hospital for Sick Children and the University of Toronto. It seeks to provide the world with new diagnoses, treatments, and tools to help people prevent, manage, and survive the devastating consequences of heart failure. It also provides global leadership in the cardiac field and offers multiple research and clinical educational opportunities and training. As part of this Centre, the Ted Rogers Computational Program (TRCP) is currently recruiting a highly qualified Clinical Research Analyst to conduct systematic literature reviews and clinical practice guidelines.

Duties:

Lead evidence syntheses

  • Lead end-to-end scoping reviews; plan and deliver related systematic or rapid reviews as needed.
  • Develop review protocols (e.g., objectives, eligibility criteria, PICO/PEO), and coordinate registration where applicable.
  • Design database and grey-literature search strategies in partnership with a health sciences librarian; document searches and updates.

Screening, extraction, and appraisal

  • Oversee dual-reviewer screening, conflict resolution, and PRISMA flow documentation.
  • Develop and quality-check data extraction forms; supervise data abstraction and cleaning.
  • Conduct risk-of-bias/quality appraisal using fit-for-purpose tools (e.g., for interventions, diagnostics, prognosis, or observational designs).

Analysis and synthesis

  • Produce evidence maps, narrative syntheses, and (where appropriate) pairwise or network meta-analyses with sensitivity and subgroup analyses.
  • Generate evidence tables and concise summaries of findings; assess certainty/quality of evidence and key limitations.

Guideline support (as applicable)

  • Translate review findings into clinical questions and draft evidence-to-decision materials.
  • Support panel deliberations, consensus methods, and drafting of recommendations and rationales.

Project management & collaboration

  • Build and manage workplans, timelines, and milestones; provide regular written status updates and dashboards.
  • Coordinate data flow and collaboration across internal teams and external partners/sites; schedule and facilitate meetings.
  • Train and mentor junior staff on methods, tools, and good documentation practices.

Reporting & dissemination

  • Prepare clear methods/results write-ups for presentations, manuscripts, and stakeholder materials; develop slides, figures, and decision aids.
  • Incorporate reviewer, panel, and stakeholder feedback; track revisions and version history.

Quality, ethics, and reproducibility

  • Maintain reproducible workflows (audit trails, codebooks, version control) and adhere to institutional policies on privacy, data security, and ethics.
  • Implement QA checks at each stage to ensure methodological rigour and traceability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, Clinical Epidemiology, Health Services Research, or a related field; MSc preferred (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience conducting evidence syntheses (e.g., scoping, systematic, or rapid reviews) in a clinical or public health setting.
  • Proven ability to plan and execute end-to-end review workflows: protocol development, search strategy coordination, screening, data extraction, quality appraisal, and reporting (PRISMA).
  • Working knowledge of risk-of-bias/quality appraisal tools appropriate to study design (e.g., RoB 2, ROBINS-I, QUADAS-2, QUIPS) and familiarity with frameworks for certainty/strength of evidence (e.g., GRADE).
  • Experience generating evidence tables, summary of findings, and clear narrative syntheses; ability to support basic meta-analysis (or interpret results provided by a statistician).
  • Proficiency with review and reference-management tools (e.g., Covidence/DistillerSR/EPPI-Reviewer/Rayyan; EndNote/Zotero) and strong Excel/Google Sheets skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain methods and findings to non-specialists.
  • Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail; able to work independently and collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
