Hours: 35 hours per week
Shifts: Monday - Friday
Status: Permanent Full Time

Position Summary
The Administrative Assistant III supports the Medical Director of the Malignant Hyperthermia Unit, Department of Anesthesia and Pain Management.
Duties
- Utilizes knowledge of medical terminology and exercises judgment or decision-making to provide administrative services.
- Books in person and virtual patient appointments, tests and procedures.
- Maintains an extensive patient database, written and/or electronic calendar/schedules.
- Monitors budgeting records for corporate and research fund accounts.
- Maintains and modifies confidential medical electronic/paper filing/retrieval methods, systems, and/or formats.
- Ensures the efficient operations of the office.
- Performs other related administrative activities; cross-functional responsibilities, as assigned; and other duties consistent with the job classification, as required.
- Works in compliance of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations, reporting hazards, deficiencies and contravention’s of the Act, in a timely manner.
Qualifications
- At Minimum, completion of a 2-year community college program in health care administration or recognized equivalent.
- Business, organization or management training at the college or university level, preferred.
- Completion of a medical terminology course.
- Minimum three (4) years related medical and secretarial experience.
- Has managed a clinical practice including booking patient appointments, tests, procedures and coordinating physician's schedule.
- Previous on-the-job computer/word-processing, database and spreadsheet software experience required; experience in a Microsoft Office environment.
- Excellent organization and time management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
