Position Summary
Work in a highly skilled, inter-professional team and utilize neurological and musculoskeletal skills and knowledge to assess, manage, and treat individuals predominately with a traumatic brain injury and musculoskeletal conditions.
Duties
- Work closely with physicians to assess and manage clients/workers based on regulatory requirements and within expectations in an outpatient setting.
- Create and implement treatment plans based on analysis and clinical reasoning. Delegating treatment as needed.
- Complete timely comprehensive reports summarizing assessment and treatment findings utilizing excellent written communication skills.
- Coordination of services within the interprofessional team, inclusive of adhering to comprehensive reporting requirements.
- Review and interpret reports from Program, Partner, and Community clinicians.
- Liaise with third party funders and community health care professionals to coordinate care and return to work initiatives in a timely manner, ensuring client/workers smooth transition to the workplace.
- Participate in program planning, continuous quality improvement and evaluation
- Participate in discharge planning, liaising with community partners/stakeholders, as appropriate
- Utilize a customer and client centered approach to deliver excellent service.
- Pursue continuous professional development, which includes active participation in Physiotherapy Professional Standards & Issues Committee, attendance in relevant in-service educational programs.
- Participate in student education (e.g. student preceptorship, labs, tutorials)
- Be aware of conditions and measures that may affect the safety of patients, residents, students, employees, volunteers, physicians and visitors including:
- Compliance with the safety standards of the hospital and applicable legislation
- Identification and prevention of safety issues and problems
- Taking corrective action, where possible
- Ability to work in a manner that exemplifies the centre’s core values and helps patients get their life back
Evidence of good performance history and attendance record.
Qualifications
- B.Sc. Physiotherapy or equivalent or
- MSc (Physiotherapy) or equivalent
- Minimum of 1-2 years clinical experience
- Minimum of two (2) years related experience in the treatment of clients/patients with work related injuries, MVA and/or experience in the third party health care system preferred
- Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative and good judgment and ability to multi-task
- Strong interpersonal, communication (both written and verbal) and organizational skills
- Ability to be self-directed and effectively problem-solve
- Ability to work effectively with all levels of staff and within an interprofessional team
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to work flexible hours
- Ability to demonstrate a customer service philosophy
- Evidence of satisfactory attendance and punctuality
