Job Summary:
The UHN Guided Therapeutics laboratory is looking to add a Research Technician to our multidisciplinary team consisting of surgical oncologists, engineers, chemists, biologists, physicists, students and research fellows. The successful candidate will join the team to assist with completion of multiple research projects focused on developing imaging and therapeutic technologies for clinical applications in oncology. Working with experienced research team members and trainees, the technician will primarily be responsible for completion of experiments to assess imaging and ablation methods using in vivo cancer models. The candidate is also expected to assist with data analysis and preparation of scientific communications.
Duties:
- Assist with in vitro and in vivo experiments, including setup, monitoring and specimen collection.
- Assist with pre-clinical imaging experiments including use of fluorescence, bioluminescence, and CT imaging systems.
- Assist with data analysis and scientific communication preparation.
Qualifications
- At a minimum, a Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences (such as Biochemistry, Biology, Immunology, and Bioengineering) or equivalent biomedical research experience.
- At least one year of experience working in a bioscience focused research laboratory
- Experience working with mammalian cell culture preferred
- Experience working with in vivo models to assess cancer therapeutic efficacy is strongly preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience co-authoring scientific abstracts or manuscripts.
- Ability to work in a team
- Willingness and ability to learn new techniques
