Job Description

We are seeking a licensed Chiropodist to join our clinic on a part-time basis. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive foot care services, with a particular focus on assessment and treatment of foot wounds. This role also involves supervising and mentoring chiropody students, ensuring they gain valuable clinical experience in wound management and overall patient care.

The Chiropodist is responsible for modelling and demonstrating best practices in clinical foot care in accordance with the College of Chiropodists of Ontario standards. This is a critical role that combines excellence in clinical teaching for students while delivering high quality patient care.

  • Provide assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of foot and ankle conditions, with particular focus on acute and chronic foot wounds. Ability to provide full scope of practice.
  • Perform wound care procedures including debridement, dressings, infection control, and offloading techniques.
  • Supervise and guide chiropody students during clinical sessions where appropriate, fostering their skills in wound care and patient management.
  • Deliver teaching moments and case-based learning in alignment with clinic’s educational objectives.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on wound prevention, foot health, and ongoing care strategies.
  • Deliver educational sessions to the community on topics such as foot health, wound prevention, and diabetes-related foot care.
  • Collaborate with faculty and healthcare team members to maintain high standards of patient care and teaching.
  • Initiate and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to achieve the optimal outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed clinical documentation in compliance with regulator standards.
  • Incorporate the use of AI tools and technologies to support clinical decision making, enhance teaching and improve patient care outcomes.
  • Participate in or support research initiatives related to foot health, wound care, and chiropody education.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Current registration in good standing with the College of Chiropodist of Ontario required.
  • Demonstrated experience in foot wound management and general chiropody practice.
  • IIWCC or MClSc in Wound Healing or equivalent considered an asset.
  • Strong communication skills to support patients, student learning and community engagement.
  • Commitment to evidence-based practice and professional development.
  • Excellent time management and stress management skills are required.
  • An ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Current CPR and basic first aid
  • Current Vulnerability Sector Check
  • All immunizations current and up to date
