Hours: 37.5 Bi-Weekly
Wage Range: $29.03 - $29.57 per hour.
Shifts: Days/Evening/Weekend
Status: Permanent Part-Time

Position Summary
Take an active role in contributing to the conceptualization, execution, and assessment of a diverse range of recreation programs and services. Collaborate closely with our dedicated team to help design and develop engaging activities that cater to the unique preferences and needs of our clients.
Duties
In partnership with the Recreation Therapist, collaborate in the design of therapeutic recreation programs.
Implement recreation participation programs to meet patient interests.
Contribute to the recreation therapy intervention plan and actively report significant changes observed to Recreation Therapy team and appropriate stakeholders.
Participate as a member of the interprofessional team(s).
Provide supervision to volunteers, high school co-op students, college placement students and others as requested.
Maintain Recreation Therapy records such as GRASP, MDS, recreation statistics, program descriptions and evaluations timely and accurately.
Responsible for ongoing informal evaluation of recreation programs.
Consider program requirements such as facilities, budget, equipment, and supplies; purchase and maintain supplies as necessary
Prepare posters, employee expense forms, equipment set up requests, and Recreation Therapy calendar; book entertainment, complete patient meal forms and Stores order forms as required.
Participate in the orientation/mentorship of new staff and colleagues as required.
Identify continuous learning opportunities that support skill and knowledge development related to the position.
Engage in evidence-informed, person-centered practices as they relate to recreation therapy.
Be aware of conditions and measures that may affect the safety of patients, residents, students, employees, volunteers, physicians and visitors including:
Compliance with the safety standards of the hospital and applicable legislation
Identification and prevention of safety issues and problems
Taking corrective action, where possible
Attendance at safety meetings/training/updates in accordance with the Centre’s standards
Ability to work in a manner that exemplifies the centre’s core values and helps patients get their life back
Evidence of good performance history and attendance record
Qualifications
College diploma in Recreation Leadership, Recreation Therapy or related discipline.
Minimum 1 – 2 years recreation/activation experience with the adult population.
Experience in delivery of recreation programs
Ability to work effectively with all levels of staff and within an interprofessional team
Effective collaborative and team oriented skills
Effective interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal
Ability to be creative and resourceful
Computer skills with Microsoft word and outlook
Evidence of satisfactory attendance and punctuality
