Position Summary

As an important member of the finance team, the Financial Analyst II (FAII) is responsible for financial analysis and general accounting, supporting Core Facilities and Research Supported Services. The FAII will be a key support to the Principal Investigators and Sr. Research Program Manager within the Gastrointestinal and Hepatobiliary Oncology programs at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre/UHN. This position focuses on financial activities related to clinical trials, programmatic initiatives, grants and philanthropy. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong collaboration skills, working effectively with individuals across multiple areas to achieve objectives. They possess exceptional analytical and problem solving abilities, a keen eye for detail, and the initiative to follow through on tasks or take appropriate steps to ensure timely resolution.

Duties

  • Generate monthly and quarterly reports
  • Perform department invoice and reconciliation
  • Perform analysis on a daily basis to identify trends and potential issues and provide proactive resolutions, rather than a reactive resolution.
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports in compliance with accounting standards
  • Prepare intercompany schedules and reconcile with related parties
  • Ability to identify and understand any financial discrepancies and correct them in a timely manner
  • Provides support to clients in interpreting and understanding financial and/or statistical requirements
  • Support team members within the department
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • University Degree in Business Administration or equivalent
  • Three - Five years (3-5) related experience in an accounting environment with exposure to a range of accounting principles, practices and procedures
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellent client service and satisfaction
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills with strong organization and time management skills
  • Skill in accurately performing detailed numerical computations in a timely manner using large amounts of financial and/or statistical data
  • Sound professional judgment, initiative, and the ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines
  • Strong knowledge of computer application accounting systems & software applications, preferably in a Microsoft Office environment (i.e., Excel, Word, Access)
