CAMH-UHN Partnership

The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) and the University Health Network (UHN) have established a world-first partnership with a shared vision to integrate physical and mental health and advance brain health science. This collaboration unites Canada’s leading mental health research hospital with Canada’s leading academic health sciences centre to deliver comprehensive, coordinated care and drive world-class research and education on the connection between brain and body health.

Through shared priorities in care, research and education, the partnership will develop integrated models of treatment, conduct joint research to accelerate scientific discovery, and embed mental health expertise across physical health settings. By strengthening coordination across the mental health system, the partnership aims to transform how whole-person health is delivered and improve access and outcomes.

Overview of role: Program Lead, CAMH-UHN Partnership

The Program Lead reports to the Director, Transformation & Partnerships, UHN. Through the CAMH-UHN Partnership, the Program Lead collaborates with the Clinical Director, Addictions & CAMH-UHN Partnership, CAMH. The Program Lead, CAMH-UHN Partnership is responsible for advancing the planning, implementation and evaluation of strategic projects that involve interprofessional stakeholders, across a complex, multi-site, multi-organizational partnership. In particular, this role will be responsible for advancing Ontario Health’s Substance Use Disorder Integrated Care Pathway (SUD ICP) initiative, with the goal of establishing integrated care pathways for patients presenting to hospital emergency departments at high risk of alcohol and/or opioid-related morbidity and mortality to connect people to care that addresses their needs, both in hospitals and communities. The Program Lead will oversee the planning and implementation of the SUD ICP end-to-end, working with stakeholders across UHN, CAMH and The Neighbourhood Group to ensure its successful launch, evaluation and ongoing monitoring.

This role will be based at UHN’s Toronto General Hospital, with a physical presence at CAMH and, when needed, at local community partner sites.

The primary accountabilities of this role include:

  • Responsible for advancing complex projects on behalf of the CAMH-UHN Partnership and in alignment with Ontario Health provincial priorities.
  • Planning, development and coordination of all aspects of assigned projects including monitoring the deliverables of each team to ensure milestones are met.
  • Developing business proposals/plans, data analyses, workflow redesign, and/or quality improvement initiatives.
  • Drive change management, communications and staff engagement strategies to support adoption of new models of care and digital health solutions.
  • Lead literature reviews, environmental scans, and evidence-based analyses that advance insights aligned with the CAMH-UHN Partnership and Ontario Health provincial priorities to develop high-impact materials for various stakeholder and executive discussions.
  • Oversee development/submission support for REB/ethics/QIRC applications, operational/implementation plans, and policy/procedure changes.
  • Design and implement measurement and evaluation plans (KPIs, data collection, audits) and produce high-quality reports and presentations for diverse audiences.
  • Advancing the development of education-related and capacity building initiatives aligned with the CAMH-UHN Partnership and Ontario Health priorities.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks and issues; recommend pragmatic solutions and lead remediation activities.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable privacy and regulatory frameworks (PHIPA/Ontario legislation) and UHN policies during project implementation.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Health Administration, Business Administration, Health Informatics, or a closely related discipline — or recognized equivalent.
  • 3 – 6 years of progressive project management experience in healthcare settings, with demonstrated end-to-end delivery of complex projects.
  • Proven experience implementing digital health/clinical systems or clinical pathway/process redesign projects.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement experience working with senior clinical leaders, operational teams and external partners.
  • Demonstrated financial and resource management skills (budgeting, procurement oversight).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (presentations, briefing notes, executive summaries).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and risk-management abilities.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience using Teams, project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet, JIRA).
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize competing demands and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative leadership and strong relationship building.
  • Customer-focused (patient and care partner lens).
  • Strategic thinking with practical implementation focus.
  • Political acuity when working across complex stakeholder environments.
  • Resilience, adaptability and excellent time management.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred.
  • Change Management certification (e.g., Prosci), an asset.
  • Experience with REB/ethics processes and supporting research-adjacent projects, an asset.
  • Experience at UHN, CAMH or large academic/teaching hospital environment, an asset.
  • Experience with quality improvement methodologies (Lean, PDSA), an asset\Prior experience supervising project staff or small team, an asset.
  • Flexible to work at multiple sites based on operational needs.
