Hours: 37.5 Hours Per Week
Shifts: Monday - Friday
Status: Temporary Full-time

Position Summary:
The Clinical Research Study Assistant will support research initiatives in the thoracic clinic at Princess Margaret Hospital by coordinating the day-to-day operations of assigned clinical trials and research studies. This includes participant screening, recruitment, consenting, sample and data collection, regulatory submissions, and collaboration with clinical and research teams to ensure protocol compliance and research integrity.

Duties:

  • Screen and consent study participants in accordance with study protocols and REB guidelines
  • Schedule and coordinate participant visits, procedures, and assessments
  • Collect clinical data for researches and organize them in research databases
  • Organize access to public and clinical research datasets
  • Assist in the collection, processing, and secure storage of biological samples (if applicable)
  • Maintain essential documents and prepare regulatory submissions to UHN Research Ethics Board (REB)
  • Liaise with sponsors and hospital departments to support study logistics and timelines
  • Prepare materials for audits, site visits, and monitoring
  • Participate in research meetings and contribute to study progress reports
  • Applies straightforward technical knowledge and skills to perform well
  • Implement and coordinate all aspects of data collection and source documentation, as per UHN policy and ICH/GCP guidelines

Qualifications

  • Community college diploma in a health-related discipline, or equivalent is required
  • 3 to 6 months related experience required (e.g., study coordination; involvement/ management of randomized control trial studies; database design/set-up; data collection/management; questionnaire administration; data entry; literature searches, etc.)
  • Knowledge of ICH/GCP guidelines
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly motivated, with the ability to set priorities and work well independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Previous experience working on grant and ethics applications preferred
  • Previous experience working in cancer-related research and/or with medically ill patients would be an asset
  • Familiarity with UHN's research infrastructure, including eREB, EPIC, Redcap and hospital-based workflows, is a strong asset
