Position Summary

The Project Manager plays a critical role in advancing Lean strategy execution and strengthening internal operations within UHN Data & Analytics. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Performance Improvement & Excellence, this role is responsible for coordinating and delivering Lean capability development initiatives, as well as leading internal operational improvement projects that enhance team effectiveness and service delivery.

This temporary full-time position requires a highly organized, self-directed professional who can quickly assume ownership of active workstreams, maintain momentum, and independently lead projects in a complex hospital environment. The ideal candidate brings strong project management experience, healthcare system knowledge, and foundational training in Lean or quality improvement methodologies. The role works closely within a small, high-performing team and requires a collaborative approach, strong communication skills, and the ability to contribute positively to a supportive team environment.

Duties

  • Lead and coordinate execution of the Data & Analytics Lean strategy, ensuring initiatives are delivered on time and aligned with departmental priorities.
  • Manage and administer the Green Belt training program and associated Lean capability development activities, including office hours, Lunch & Learns, participant coordination, and progress tracking.
  • Facilitate the development and maintenance of Lean toolkits, templates, and standardized improvement resources to support sustainable continuous improvement.
  • Independently lead internal operational improvement projects (e.g., demand management process enhancements) from initiation through implementation, including planning, stakeholder engagement, workflow mapping, risk mitigation, and benefits realization.
  • Establish clear project governance structures, timelines, milestones, and reporting mechanisms; prepare high-quality documentation and status updates for leadership and committees.
  • Engage and influence stakeholders across clinical, operational, and analytics teams to support change adoption and foster a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Health Administration, Health Informatics, Business, Industrial/Process Engineering or related field is required. Masters degree considered an asset.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in project management and leading organizational change initiatives (people, culture, behaviour, data, process, and/or technology), preferably in a hospital or healthcare setting.
  • Formal training or certification in Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt preferred), or other quality improvement methodology required.
  • Strong understanding of project management lifecycle, documentation standards, and best practices. Project management certification (i.e. PMP) considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience independently leading projects from initiation through implementation and close-out. Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence without direct authority and contribute positively within a collaborative, team-based environment.
  • Strong data literacy and analysis skills, with the ability to interpret and communicate data insights effectively to a non-technical audience.
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience delivering presentations and facilitating discussions with diverse audiences.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint); experience with workflow mapping tools (e.g., Visio, Miro) considered an asset.
