Position Summary

The Health Systems & Policy Research Collaborative Centre at the University Health Network (UHN) is seeking an exceptional Postdoctoral Researcher to contribute to health system transformation through health services research.

This is a joint position with UHN’s Connected Care program—a leading initiative working with system partners to design and implement innovative, person-centered models that support seamless care transitions across hospitals, primary care, and community settings - uhnconnectedcare.ca.

As a Postdoctoral Researcher, you will work at the intersection of research, policy, and practice— assessing outcomes, scalability, and sustainability of integrated care models. In this role, you will lead complex, high-impact quantitative research using some of the most comprehensive health datasets in Canada, develop your own independent research agenda, and collaborate with top experts across disciplines. You will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and translate findings to drive evidence-based improvements in care delivery across the health system.

This position offers the opportunity to work in a highly interdisciplinary environment, collaborating with investigators and knowledge users from academia, public health, and governmental organizations across Canada. The postdoctoral researcher will be based at UHN and will have access to extensive mentorship, networking, and professional development opportunities to prepare for a career as an independent investigator.

Duties

  • Lead and contribute to evaluations of integrated care and connected care initiatives, including implementation assessments, outcomes evaluation, and economic evaluations.
  • Develop and test innovative methodological approaches to address research questions in health services and outcomes research.
  • Interpret, synthesize, and disseminate findings through peer-reviewed publications, policy briefs, and presentations at scientific and stakeholder meetings.
  • Initiate and lead independent research projects aligned with the Health Systems and Policy Research Collaborative Centre and Connected Care program, with mentorship from principal investigators and collaborators.
  • Contribute to grant applications, research planning, and the training/mentorship of graduate students.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in health services research, health economics, epidemiology, biostatistics, population health, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • Demonstrated expertise in implementation science or program evaluation within health systems or applied research settings.
  • Advanced expertise in quantitative research methods) and demonstrated ability to design and implement complex analyses.
  • Experience working with large, linked health administrative or registry datasets; familiarity with advanced methods for longitudinal data analysis and health services research, including resource utilization or costing studies, is an asset.
  • Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals, with evidence of leading or first-author contributions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present research to both scientific and policy audiences.
