Reports to: Manager, Governance, Controls and Compliance
Salary Range: $58,578-$87,876 annually
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Status: Temporary Full-time (contract until September 27, 2026)
Closing Date: April 24, 2026

Position Summary

As an integral member of the Governance, Controls and Compliance team within Research Financial Services, the Financial/Expense Analyst I performs a range of professional and detailed accounting tasks requiring basic knowledge and fundamental applications of accounting theory and principles under the monitoring and direction of the Manager.

Duties

  • Handling inquiries from research staff in a timely and courteous manner
  • Tracking & recording receipt of credit card statements
  • Processing credit card statements in a timely manner & in accordance with UHN policy
  • Ensuring proper authorization and sufficient funding
  • Initiating contact with research staff to resolve deficiencies on credit card statements
  • Educating research staff on financial policies and procedures
  • Performing cross-functional duties and other duties consistent with the job classification, as required.

Qualifications

  • Community college diploma (three years) in Accounting/Finance or equivalent program required
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Two (2) years related experience in an accounting environment with exposure to a range of basic accounting practices, procedures and principles
  • Basic knowledge of accounting practices, procedures and generally accepted accounting principles
  • Skill in performing detailed numerical computations and accurate data entry
  • Skill in preparing detailed reports
  • Demonstrated problem solving and decision making skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills required
  • Working knowledge of computer application accounting systems and software applications, preferably in a Microsoft Office environment (i.e. Word, Access, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to client service and satisfaction
  • Experience working in a health care environment, preferred
