Position Summary
The Financial Analyst III supports budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting activities, including consolidation, variance analysis, and development of management‑level insights. This role partners closely with finance colleagues and cross‑functional stakeholders to support driver‑based planning, identify risks and opportunities, and contribute to continuous improvement of financial processes and systems in support of UHN’s mission.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Support annual budgeting and ongoing financial planning activities using Workday Adaptive Planning, assisting with coordination of submissions in line with established timelines, standards, and requirements.
- Consolidate forecasts across programs and portfolios, working with finance leads and finance systems support teams to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
- Perform detailed financial, operational, and statistical analyses against budget and forecast, preparing clear reports and commentary explaining variances, trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Apply strong analytical skills to support driver‑based modeling, review planning assumptions, and assess alignment with operational and strategic objectives.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly management reporting packages to support internal decision‑making and financial reporting requirements.
- Support month‑end and year‑end close activities, including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules, ensuring compliance with accounting and reporting standards.
- Contribute to financial planning and process improvement initiatives, supporting enhancements to efficiency, data quality, controls, and reporting effectiveness.
- Support continuous improvement and effective use of financial systems and tools, including SAP S/4HANA, Excel, Workday Adaptive Planning, and Power BI.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to service excellence, collaboration, innovation, and problem‑solving in support of UHN’s mission and values.
Qualifications
- University degree in Business Administration or equivalent program required
- Obtained or working towards the CPA designation
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in financial planning and analysis, preferably within a complex, multi-funded, or healthcare environment
- Advanced level knowledge of accounting concepts, techniques and principles, required
- Advanced skills in accurately performing detailed numerical computations using large amounts of complex, interrelated financial and/or statistical data
- Advanced skills in analyzing and interpreting complex financial data
- Skilled in preparing complex, detailed reports
- Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills
- Highly skilled in Microsoft Excel, proficiency in Power BI, SAP, or similar ERP/BI systems is a strong asset
