Position Summary
The Management Consultant is a senior professional role responsible for leading and delivering defined, project-based analytical and design work to support the development and optimization of clinical and operational programs across UHN. The role focuses on program design including documenting current-state pathways and processes, identifying improvement opportunities, defining program indicators, and developing evidence-based recommendations and high-level implementation plans. Working in close partnership with clinical, operational, and corporate stakeholders, the Management Consultant applies structured methodologies to translate complex information into clear findings and actionable options. The role supports executive and senior leadership decision-making by providing rigorous analysis, synthesized insights, and well-defined deliverables within approved scope, timelines, and resources.

Duties
- Lead project management activities, including clarification of objectives, scope, timelines, roles, and key milestones in alignment with defined project terms
- Conduct comprehensive information gathering to document the current-state clinical pathway, including key steps, decision points, handoffs, and dependencies
- Document current-state end-to-end processes, working with stakeholders to identify inefficiencies, gaps, and opportunities for improvement
- Develop clear and appropriate process maps and supporting documentation to reflect current-state workflows
- Identify and document workflow optimization opportunities, including potential improvements to processes, roles, and coordination across teams
- Assess resource gaps and role requirements, including identification of potential new roles or changes to existing roles needed to support future-state program design
- Apply qualitative and quantitative analysis to support findings related to volumes, demand, capacity, delays, cancellations, and other relevant operational or clinical metrics
- Define and document program indicators, including priority indicators and supporting methodology, data sources, and reporting considerations
- Support the development of high-level implementation plans for proposed solutions, including sequencing, dependencies, risks, and key considerations, recognizing scope and feasibility constraints
- Prepare and deliver written project outputs, including progress updates, summary reports, final deliverables, and documentation suitable for senior and executive leadership review
- Facilitate structured workshops, interviews, and working sessions with clinical and operational stakeholders to validate findings and refine recommendations
- Provide project coordination and progress tracking support, identifying risks, issues, and interdependencies and escalating as appropriate
- Contribute to project closure activities by documenting outcomes, recommendations, and proposed next steps beyond the defined project scope
- Completion of a Master’s degree in Business Administration, Health Administration, Public Policy, or a recognized equivalent
- Minimum of 10+ years of progressive, related professional experience in consulting, strategy, planning, or program design roles, preferably within complex healthcare or public-sector environments
- Demonstrated experience delivering project-based work involving program design, current-state assessment, process mapping, analysis, and development of recommendations
- Strong analytical skills, with experience working with both qualitative and quantitative data to inform decision-making
- Experience developing clear written deliverables for senior and executive audiences, including reports, briefing materials, and presentations
- Formal education or applied experience in project management and structured improvement methodologies
- Excellent interpersonal and facilitation skills, with the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary stakeholder groups
- High degree of professionalism, judgment, and ability to work independently within defined scope and timelines
