Position Summary
University Health Network (UHN) is looking for an individual to fill the key role of Clinical Research Coordinator II at The Hull-Ellis Concussion and Research Clinic. The Research Coordinator will exercise judgment and independence in a dynamic research-based clinic in carrying out the day-to-day clinical research study duties.
Duties
- Coordinating ongoing and new research studies and projects, including REB submissions, amendments, renewals, and closures
- Prepare environment and facilitate conducting research activities as per protocol
- Monitor and oversee data entry and database maintenance related activities
- Recruitment of study participants as needed (e.g., identifying and screening potential subjects and obtaining informed consent)
- Coordinate patient study visit schedules as per study protocol
- Performs data transcription from health records or other sources, as per approved study protocol and authorized access
- Administer in person and telephone interviews and cognitive testing to collect basic study participant data using established criteria
- Execute study-related administrative tasks, such as collection and maintenance of regulatory documents, ethics submissions, etc.
- Maintain electronic & paper information filing/retrieval methods, systems and/or formats
- Conduct scientific literature searches, manuscript preparation, abstract writing and conference/workshop presentation preparations, etc.
- Present at conferences, workshops, etc. as needed
- Liaising with internal and external collaborators and staff scientists to coordinate research projects and publication of manuscripts
- Oversee and submit funding applications such as research grant applications
- Reviewing and assessing study-related literature
- Performs source documentation in UHN’s electronic medical record (Epic) and data collection according to UHN policy and study protocol
- Other responsibilities include planning, implementing, and coordinating data entry (e.g., in databases or case report forms) and study-related administrative tasks, such as creating and maintaining investigator study files, non-interventional study protocol writing, ethics submissions, meeting facilitation, etc.
- Oversee junior research staff, students, and volunteers performing study specific tasks as needed
- Maintain Clinic’s presence on social media
- Update UHN Clinic website as needed
Qualifications
- At minimum, a bachelor's degree, or recognized equivalent, in a health or science-related discipline, required
- Postgraduate certificate in clinical research or graduate work is an asset
- Minimum three (3) years of clinical research experience and minimum of one (1) year clinical research coordination experience
- Certification as a Clinical Research Professional (i.e. SOCRA, ACRP), preferred
- Proficiency in basic medical terminology
- Experience with patient contact and informed consent in a clinical setting
- Experience with REDCap or other databases an asset
- Experience with manuscript and grant writing
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Ability to set priorities and work independently with accuracy in a dynamic & fast-paced research integration environment
- Able to operate effectively in an interdisciplinary team
- Strong Proficiency with MS Office software, Microsoft Teams, Outlook, SharePoint
- Proficiency with statistical analysis software (R, RStudio, SAS, SPSS, etc.)
