About us:
Spaces & Experiences (S&E) is a self-funded division of the University which operates housing, hospitality and campus services on the St. George campus, while supporting tri-campus development of revenue generating assets. The primary activities of the division include student and faculty housing, transportation, conferences & events, innovation space that supports commercialization of research, commercial and academic leasing, real estate acquisitions, food &beverage services and trademark licensing.
The S&E team also leads the underwriting of new development opportunities, and the evaluation of joint-venture partnerships (e.g., housing, retail, innovation space), while seeking to generate financial returns to support the academic mission of the university.
Your opportunity:
The S&E Marketing and Communications team consists of brand, web, media, design and social media experts who support all of the Spaces & Experiences business streams, with a strong focus on brand development and marketing and communications strategies and tactics. The team is highly collaborative with all S&E business unit partners to ensure the achievement of various business objectives. The team is hiring a Marketing and Communications Assistant to assist the many and varied needs of Spaces & Experiences.
Reporting to the Assistant Director, the Marketing and Communications Assistant will help coordinate event logistics and support a variety of marketing materials and communications projects. The role assists the marketing and communications officers embedded within business units responsible for food and beverage, catering and student housing services. The incumbent will create a variety of promotional materials, including digital signage and content for newsletters, websites and social media platforms that adhere to university brand identity guidelines.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Writing and editing digital communications
- Verifying that content is consistent with brand identity guidelines
- Verifying that links to all related websites are up-to-date
- Determining logistical details required for email campaigns across departments
- Editing content for brochures, newsletters, websites and/or handbooks
- Collecting digital assets for online platform use
- Using and modifying standard videography and photography techniques to capture desired results
- Generating reports
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
- Minimum three (3) years of relevant experience of which a minimum one (1) year must be in marketing or communication.
- Highly developed communication skills, including excellent writing and editing skills.
- Creative and innovative with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team of self-directed marketing and communication professionals.
- Intermediate to advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Acrobat, Adobe Creative Cloud suite of software including Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop and web based CMS systems such asWordPress.
