Your opportunity:

The Events and Marketing Coordinator supports the development, planning, and execution of a wide range of events and marketing initiatives that advance student recruitment, community engagement, and alumni relations. This role contributesto building awareness of the department’s programs, initiatives, and opportunities, while helping to deliver meaningful and engaging experiences for a variety of audiences, including prospective students, current students, industry partners, and alumni.

Working as part of a highly collaborative team, the incumbent supports the coordination and delivery of both in-person and digital events, including recruitment activities, information sessions, outreach events, and engagement initiatives. In parallel, the role supports the development and execution of marketing and communications activities that ensure consistent, compelling, and audience-focused messaging across platforms.

Reporting to the Manager, Marketing and Communications, the Events and Marketing Coordinator plays a key role in shaping both the logistical and promotional aspects of departmental initiatives. This includes contributing to event planning and execution, supporting registration and communications workflows, and assisting with the development of marketing materials that align with established brand and messaging guidelines.

A strong focus of the role is ensuring that all events and marketing activities work together to create a cohesive and engaging audience experience. The incumbent helps translate departmental priorities into accessible and visually consistent communications, while supporting outreach efforts that strengthen connections with target audiences and enhance overall engagement with the department.


Your responsibilities will include:
  • Coordinating the schedule for program and event calendars
  • Analyzing client needs and making recommendations on event logistics and options
  • Implementing communication plans that support outreach goals and objectives
  • Implementing marketing and advertising plans to increase revenue-generating activities
  • Researching and identifying opportunities to promote programs and initiatives
  • Fostering and maintaining networks to build capacity and collaboration
Essential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum three (3) years of recent experience in conceptualizing, organizing and executing events in a complex organization, preferably within a higher education or public sector environment
  • Demonstrated experience with full-cycle event planning for a high volume of events, including marketing, registration, and post-event evaluation
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing client needs and making recommendations on event logistics and options
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience with promotions, including writingand editing promotional copy for websites, social media channels, print materials, etc.
  • Experience includes demonstrated success in professionally executed events involving multiple stakeholders, and maintaining relationships with stakeholders and vendors
  • Demonstrated experience developing and organizing the logistics of numerous/multi-day events within tight and conflicting timeframes
  • Knowledge of, and experience in, scheduling and tracking the status of events and classroom activities
  • Experience planning events in compliance with AODA
  • Demonstrated experience handling event expenses, collaborating on cost estimates, and preparing financial summary reports
  • Superior planning and project management skills andstrong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, timelines, and priorities
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, as well as proficiency in using social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Twitter and Instagram)
  • Must be able to handle working on multiple projects; demonstrate sound judgement under pressure and stress, as well as maturity and poise required to interact with senior executives
  • A team player with sensitivityto various levels of expectations from executives, faculty and staff and students
  • Demonstrated superior interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively and build consensus
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Assets (Nonessential):
  • Experience with livestreaming and virtual event technologies (such as Zoom, YouTube, StreamYard, Wirecast or similar) are an asset
