Your opportunity:

Situated in the Office of the Vice-Principal Academic & Dean (OVPAD), Academic Operations portfolio, this role reports to the Associate Director, Academic Planning & Policy and supports multiple areas in OVPAD. At the core of academic leadership at U of T Mississauga, the Office of the Vice-Principal, Academic & Dean provides strategic oversight of academic policy and champions the integrity and innovation of UTM’s academic programs. Additionally, the office plays a central role in supporting the academic mission of UTM's nineteen departments and institutes by:

- Fostering inclusive pedagogy
- Advancing experiential learning opportunities
- Upholding academic integrity
- Supporting faculty recruitment, tenure, and promotion

This role will provide administrative, project, data and/or report support to Academic Planning & Policy, Programs and Curriculum and Academic HR for processes such as course planning, enrolment monitoring, Faculty complement planning, quality assurance reviews and course evaluations. Furthermore, this role will be instrumental in providing project support for institutional academic policy reviews and/or relevant web content. As a key member of the Academic Operations team, this individual will support the work of the following senior leadership in OVPAD: the Vice-Dean, Undergraduate, the Vice-Dean, Faculty, the Vice-Dean, Academic Programs, the Associate Dean, Teaching and Learning, the Assistant Dean and possibly others.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Collating and organizing data for various reports; generating reports
  • Relaying and/or gathering information from senior leadership
  • Executing assigned tasks according to production schedules and project plans
  • Informing senior staff of impending deadlines
  • Proofreading and fact-checking content
  • Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance
  • Resolving issues within the scope of the role and escalating problems as required
  • Serving as a resource to others by providing (non-supervisory) job-related guidance

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum five years related experience in an administrative and/or educational environment.
  • Experience using institutional data dashboards and business intelligence tools (e.g. Tableau, Power BI) to analyze enrolment, course planning and/or academic planning data.
  • Experience preparing reports, presentations and briefing materials for senior academic administrators.
  • Experience interpreting and applying academic policies, procedures and regulations within a post-secondary environment.
  • Experience supporting academic human resources processes, including faculty appointments, tenure, promotion, leaves and/or complement planning.
  • Experience supporting academic planning, policy, curriculum and/or institutional initiatives involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience supporting policy review processes within a post-secondary institution.
  • Experience with/knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, SharePoint etc.
