The Department of Statistical Sciences is one of the top ten statistics departments in North America, with our faculty developing numerous important innovations in statistical science. Our mission is to serve as a centre of excellence for statistical and actuarial research and education, across the campus, nationally and internationally. Research is centered on excellence in theory and methods, as many faculty members in the department have very successful collaborative research programs. Central to our vision for the next five years is to strengthen our national and international reputation in collaborative scientific activity, without compromising our core strengths.
Under the general supervision of the Manager, Undergraduate Programs, the incumbent is responsible for providing administrative support for the teaching of Statistical Sciences courses.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Responding to enquiries within the defined scope of the role and redirecting as appropriate
- Disseminating program and/or service information
- Booking rooms and arranging appropriate accommodations
- Coordinating the preparation and distribution of program and/or course material
- Editing program and service materials
- Coordinating meeting schedules, agendas, materials, action and follow-up items
- Proofreading and fact-checking content
- Liaising with stakeholders to coordinate space and resource requirements
Essential Qualifications:
- Advanced College Diploma (3 years) or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
- Minimum two years of recent and related experience providing undergraduate administrative support to university faculty, TAs, and staff.
- Experience and proficient skills in proofreading and formatting lecture notes, problem sets, tests and exams.
- Demonstrated experience working with databases, surveys, and generating reports. Demonstrate ability to maintain, organize and generate report wth high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Extensive experience working with and providing information to undergraduate students.
- Experience in organizing and planning meetings and events.
- Advanced working knowledge and skills of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Access and ROSI.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Well-developed and strong interpersonal skills.
- Excellent time management, prioritization and organizational skills .
