Your Opportunity:
Under general supervision: supervises a Lead Hand and/or a large custodial crew in one or more buildings. Coordinates shift in absence of supervisor.
Typical Duties:
The following illustrative tasks indicate the level of skill required and the extent of the responsibility involved in this position. They in no way limit the incumbent to the tasks indicated.
Flexibility of the employee to perform a wide variety of functions is necessary in successfully fulfilling the requirements of this position. The degree to which each employee performs each of the following tasks listed below will vary according to where and when the employee is scheduled to work.
- inspects work of service workers and/or maintenance workers and/or Lead Hands, assessing quality of work and reports to Supervisor;
- maintains records of performance, time worked, etc. for submission to Supervisor
- arranges and directs training of new staff members in order to ensure all tasks are completed in a safe and efficient manner;
- may conduct tests of new materials proposed for use;
- responds to requests for assistance from clients and other building users reports on repairs needed;
- responds and follows up on complaints from clients and visitors;
- supervises set-ups and furniture handling using appropriate equipment and in accordance with written instructions or work orders;
- may be required to perform simple maintenance functions such as changing lights; emergency clean up when necessary;
- may be required to use lifting devices to perform the duties of the position
- Coordinates shift in absence of Supervisor;
- Downloads, prints and assigns tasks using an on-line work order system;
- May perform duties of a Lead Hand Service Worker Caretaking, and Service Worker; and
- other related duties as required.
Minimum Requirements for Selection:
Education: Completion of Grade 12 or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience: Minimum three (3) years experience in cleaning, preferably with experience as a Lead Hand or similar supervisory experience.
Other: Extensive knowledge of cleaning materials, effect of materials on surfaces being cleaned and best methods of preparing floors and furniture, must be able to communicate effectively in English (oral and written). Basic computer skills. Demonstrated leadership ability. May be required to possess a valid Provincial Class “G” driver’s license. Must be able to use and demonstrate safe use of equipment.

The hours of work for this on-site position is every Monday to Friday 07:00 to 15:30
