The Department of Statistical Sciences is one of the top ten statistics departments in North America, with our faculty developing numerous important innovations in statistical science. Our mission is to serve as a centre of excellence for statistical and actuarial research and education, across the campus, nationally and internationally. Research is centered on excellence in theory and methods, as many faculty members in the department have very successful collaborative research programs. Central to our vision for the next five years is to strengthen our national and international reputation in collaborative scientific activity, without compromising our core strengths.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Advising students on academic and/or financial matters by providing options and consequences incorporatingpersonal circumstances impacting academic success and an understanding of an individual's background
- Taking the lead and overseeing the administration of the Graduate program
- Analyzing and making recommendations on award funding allocation
- Reviewing and approving changes to program requirements for exceptional cases
- Analyzing statistical information to inform enrollment projections and planning
- Leading seminars and/or workshops
- Producing promotional and outreach copy materials
- Reviewing and assessing admissions applications; Analyzing service delivery and/or internal processes and recommending improvements; Determining logistical details required for the execution of admissions processes
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
- Minimum four (4) years of related experience counselling graduate students on academic matters and providing administrative support to a graduate program. Extensive knowledge of the University with emphasis on the Faculty of Arts and Science graduate academic guidelines and procedures or other related procedures.
- Experience leading and providing senior administrative support for a Graduate office.
- Experience overseeing and coordinating scholarships & fellowships to the School of Graduate Studies.
- Experience coordinating and advising on SGS policy and processes.
- Experience reviewing and assessing admissions and award applications.
- Experience developing and maintaining records and files.
- Experience coordinating academic calendar submissions.
- Experience with timetabling, course scheduling and room assignments.
- Experience analyzing statistical information for enrollment projections and planning.
- Experience analyzing service delivery and admissions processes, and recommending improvements.
- Experience leading seminars and/or workshops.
- Experience preparing promotional and outreach copy material.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office including with Outlook, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Word.
- Strong working knowledge of Slate, ROSI/ACORN or other related student database systems.
- Strong working knowledge of creating and maintaining databases and statistical reporting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with proven collaborative and teamwork skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to show leadership, good judgement and initiative.
- Excellent public speaking and presentation skills.
