Your opportunity:
Under the direction of the Director, Active Healthy Living, the incumbent provides professional and dynamic leadership to the Faculty’s Active Healthy Living Clubs program with an emphasis in the areas of recreational sport and physical activity clubs. Key duties include the direct management of FKPE Active Healthy Living club programs; supervision of a large staff primarily composed of part time coaches, USW casuals, student leaders and contracted volunteers; creating and managing a large scheduling portfolio across multiple facilities; the financial management of one FKPE budget and multiple Restricted Spending Plan budgets; the implementation of event management protocols; and the human resource management of staff including annual contracts, payroll processes, training and orientation.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Create all practice and competition schedules across multiple facilities for numerous programs in Active Healthy Living Clubs.
- Advocating on behalf of students with internal and external contacts/agencies.
- Design a program promotion plan to recruitment students for club membership and engagement.
- Manage all travel requirements within club travel policies – includes type of transportation within budget allocation, accommodation, travel rosters, coaches expenses; meals; therapy, reimbursements of expenses, parking, mileage, officials travel.
- Recruit, hire, orient and train of 80+ USW casuals, contracted volunteers, coaches, instructors and work study students.
- As a member of the Active Healthy Living team, attend games and/or events to ensure staff performs their assigned duties and to solve any problems that may arise pre, during, or post event, based on an assigned portfolio.
- Create Game/Event Day action plans for all games and events within the club program.
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in sport management, physical education or kinesiology or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum four years in recreation and sport management preferably in a post-secondary recreation and sport setting.
- Experience in managing budgets and supervising unionized and non-unionized staff
- Demonstrated event management and sport scheduling experience
- Experience in university or college recreation and sport across a continuum of programming – intramurals, clubs, interuniversity, high performance.
- Demonstrated oral and written skills
- Demonstrated conflict resolution skills
- Proficiency in the Microsoft OfficeSuite
Assets (Nonessential):
- Experience in web site management and FUSION recreation management software is an asset.
