Description:

Under the direction of the Manager, Campus Beverage Services, Hospitality Workers are responsible for the setting up of Food Service Events for all catering functions as well as Concession Events for Varsity Sports. Hospitality Workers are required to serve food and beverages using safe food handling procedures while following COVID-19 protocols, and adhering to proper cash handling procedures (when applicable).

Typical Duties

The following illustrative tasks indicate the level of skill required, and the extent of the responsibility involved in this job. They in no way limit the incumbent to tasks indicated.

(a) Prepare and set up service areas and facilities for use by guests.

(b) Deliver to service areas and stock, count and record all inventories of goods and cash.

(c) Serve food and beverage products to guests as required.

(d) Monitor and supervise alcohol consumption as required by the Liquor License Act and University of Toronto alcohol policies.

(e) Complete closing inventory and cash reports in prescribed manner.

(f) Secure inventories, equipment, cash and facilities in prescribed manner.

(g) Maintain the service and public areas in a safe, sanitary and hospitable condition.

(h) Follow all prescribed food handling procedures as required by legislation.

(i) Minimal food preparations as needed.

(j) Generally assist in operation of department services as required.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • University of Toronto Student preferred.
  • Must hold a valid Smart Serve Certification during the time of employment. (Training may be provided to hired applicant.)


Experience:

  • Cash handling experience preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.


Other:

  • Valid Ontario G driver’s license preferred.
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age as required by the Liquor Licence Act.
