About us:

Campus Events & Conference Services (CECS) provides leadership, direction, expertise and advice in event production to the University community and external stakeholders, with emphasis on high standards for customer service, attention to detail and quality. CECS manages and facilitates a broad portfolio of activities including 25,000+ space booking annually including all internal, Recognized Student Groups and external requests for all spaces in the central room inventory across the St. George Campus. CECS also offers a concierge service to support high production virtual and hybrid events. With a population on the St. George Campus of approximately 80,000 people engaged in a variety of diverse activities, CECS provides a focal point to assess and ensure a variety of high profile and other events can be successfully executed while ensuring that the activities related to the purpose of the University - namely academic instruction and research - can proceed without disruption.

Your opportunity:

Reporting to the Manager, Audio Visual & Media Productions, the Multimedia Specialist position is an integral part of the Campus Events unit and the first point of contact to facilitate multimedia requests for internal and external clients and stakeholders. The demand for Campus Events and Conference Services is extremely high so while the position is fast paced, there is tremendous support from a highly collaborative and dynamic team.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Setting-up and maintaining audio/visual systems
  • Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues
  • Maintaining audio-visual inventory
  • Scheduling audio-visual equipment bookings
  • Implementing a rollout plan for new audio-visual technologies
  • Performing preventive maintenance on audio-visual equipment
  • Liaising with vendors to coordinate services and resolve issues
  • Providing clients with detailed quotations on request

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience with both PC-based and dedicated videoconferencing, audio-visual, collaboration, and presentation technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting existing IP videoconferencing and digital media streaming technologies, as well as web-based collaboration and conference technologies.
  • In-depth and demonstrated knowledge with AV technology and ability to keep abreast of developments in AV technology, with a strong emphasis on user experience.
  • Experience conducting needs assessments and evaluating new technologies for recommendation.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard AV technologies, including video conferencing and web streaming products, gatekeepers, gateways, MCUs, firewall traversal tools, networking and standard communication protocols (like H.323, SIP, and H.264protocols).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of integration AV control systems and Ethernet networking, TCP/IP controls.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows and Mac operating systems.
  • Proficiency in MS Office 365, media formats (MPG, QuickTime, PNG, JPG, AIFF), digital media recording and editing tools (Camtasia, Adobe Premiere, and Final Cut), and learning management systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills.
  • Superior organizational and analytical/diagnostic skills.
  • Must be self-motivated, results oriented, a quick learner with a strong customer service focus and impeccable attention to detail.
