Sessional Lecturer - PSL374H: Advanced Physiology Laboratory

The Department of Physiology, University of Toronto (St. George campus) is recruiting a Sessional Lecturer to teach the neurophysiology section of PSL374H (Advanced Physiology Laboratory) during Winter 2027. The course will run from January-April 2027, inclusive of the term tests and examinations.

Course Code and Title: PSL374H – Advanced Physiology Laboratory

Course Description: This is an advanced lecture and laboratory course designed for Physiology specialist students. The course is designed to foster an understanding of functional interactions between organ systems.

Sessional Dates of Appointment: January 2027 to April 2027

Salary: In accordance with the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement, the rate of pay for teaching in this course will be $2,499.37, inclusive of vacation pay.

Qualifications: PhD in physiology or related discipline and lab experience are required. Lecturing experience in neurophysiology, experience using WinLTP and GraphPad Prism; and previous teaching in PSL374H are assets.

Description of Duties: Delivering 2 X 2-hour lectures on long term potentiation, synaptic transmission, and core electrophysiological concepts; administrating 3 X 4-hour labs and support students in the analysis and interpretation of electrophysiological data using WinLTP and GraphPad Prism; guide students in preparing laboratory reports in a scientific manuscript format; marking the neurophysiology lab reports and module-specific final exam questions; contribute to course assessment by developing final examination questions and evaluating student performance; and interacting with the Course Director or the Department of Physiology Undergraduate Coordinator. This represents 25% of the workload for this course.
