Your opportunity:
The project manager will play a central role in coordinating a diverse array of research projects spanning the research groups of Professors Heather MacLean, Daniel Posen and Shoshanna Saxe. The projects span the domains of infrastructure, energy and transportation systems with a focus on climate change and other environmental implications. You will engage with both project personnel (students and faculty across multiple institutions), research service officers, and external stakeholders (industry and government representatives) to: facilitate regular project updates and communication; maintain project timelines and dissemination of deliverables; manage project finances; ensure timely administrative reporting; organize events; and seek out opportunities for additional resources. We are looking for someone highly organized and assertive with strong communication skills and attention to detail. We offer a friendly and highly collaborative environment, where the project manager will be treated as a member of the team and encouraged to take an independent lead in managing priorities and making suggestions to improve overall project procedures.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Liaising with agencies, collaborators, industry sponsors, faculty and other stakeholders regarding funding applications
- Interpreting and applying policies and procedures when making independent decisions
- Drafting funding applications
- Developing project schedules including milestones, critical path, timelines, deliverables and reporting
- Writing and editing reports to support initiatives
- Forecasting, planning and monitoring multiple complex budgets
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years of recent and related experience in managing large scale projects and administering research grants and applications, including managing funding accounts and budgets, and tracking project progress
- Demonstrated experience writing and editing, including writing grant applications, correspondence, project materials, documents and reports
- Demonstrated experience administrating research grants, coordinating activities with research partners and applying/enforcing sponsor and financial policies and procedures
- Experience researching, identifying and advising on funding opportunities
- Demonstrated ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and facilitate others to do so
- Organizational skills to track and maintain project timelines and dissemination of deliverables
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and the promotion of a respectful and collegial learning and work environment
- Intermediate skills with MS Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook
- Excellent communication skills (both oral and written)
