Your opportunity:

Reporting to the Director, Interuniversity and High Performance Athletics and taking day-to-day direction from the Manager, Interuniversity Sport, the Coordinator, Student-Athlete Services, Recruitment, is the first line of contact for potential and incoming student-athletes. They will respond to routine admissions and awards enquiries and refer complex enquiries as appropriate. The incumbent will work with the Manager, Interuniversity Sport to coordinate the annual Athletic Financial Award cycle and to advise coaches and student-athletes on eligibility, renewal timelines and compliance obligations. They maintain current working knowledge of OUA and U Sports recruitment and financial award bylaws and of applicable University policies.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Keeping well-informed on University, OUA and USports programs, policies and procedures, rules and guidelines
  • Implementing plans and process improvements for program and service activities
  • Providing detailed information regarding financial awards
  • Verifying the eligibility of applicants
  • Checking that applicants meet the requirements outlined in the awards criteria
  • Coordinating tasks for projects and other strategic initiatives with stakeholders
  • Fostering cooperative working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external contacts
  • Scheduling appointments for prospective student-athlete applicants to address individual needs

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education, Sports Management, Business or Athletic Administration or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum two years experience working with coaches, student-athletes and prospective students in an intercollegiate environment
  • Minimum two years experience working in Student-Athlete recruiting operations
  • A strong understanding of OUA and USports eligibility and recruitment rules and regulations
  • A strong understanding of University eligibility rules and regulations
  • Experience building rapport with varying stakeholders
  • Strong organizational and project coordination skills
  • Ability to manage multiple and competing activities and deadlines simultaneously
  • Excellent written and verbal communications
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to exercise tact, discretion and confidentiality in high pressure situations
