Job Description
The Senior Supply Chain Specialist – Mechanical Component & Extrusion Components is responsible for the sourcing, negotiation, and procurement of mechanical component and aluminum extrusion components that power Vention’s modular automation platform. Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, this role ensures that materials, inventory, and operations flow efficiently to support New Product Introduction (NPI), Design for Manufacturability (DFM), and ongoing production activities.
You will collaborate closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Operations teams to drive cost efficiency, quality, and supplier performance. Leveraging ERP/MRP systems, Lean principles, and a deep technical understanding of mechanical components, you’ll play a key role in enabling smooth project execution and supply continuity.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead procurement and sourcing activities for mechanical hardware, extrusions, and machined parts across global suppliers.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and contracts to achieve cost, quality, and delivery objectives.
- Collaborate with Engineering on NPI and DFM initiatives to ensure manufacturability and cost efficiency.
- Maintain and optimize ERP/MRP system data accuracy for materials planning and execution.
- Monitor and manage inventory levels to balance production needs and working capital efficiency.
- Support production, logistics, and quality teams to resolve material or supplier issues promptly.
- Drive supplier consolidation and implement Lean inventory strategies (Kanban, reorder point optimization, vendor-managed inventory).
- Analyze supplier performance and implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Track and report key supply chain metrics including on-time delivery, cost savings, and supplier quality.
- Participate in continuous improvement and Lean initiatives to enhance supply chain performance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline; Master’s degree or specialization in Supply Chain is an asset.
- 4–5 years of experience in procurement, planning, or supply chain operations within manufacturing or mechanical component industries.
- Technical understanding of aluminum extrusion, machining, and Mechanical Component fastening systems.
- Proven negotiation and supplier management skills.
- Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and Excel; experience with SAP or Odoo is an asset.
- Experience supporting NPI projects and applying DFM principles.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience with Lean, 5S, or continuous improvement methodologies is an asset.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a dynamic, high-growth environment.
