The Opportunity
We’re looking for a Manager, Solution Design & Implementation to own the end-to-end delivery of API-based payment solutions for VoPay’s enterprise customers. This role is highly technical: you will design architectures, guide customer developers, troubleshoot integration challenges, and ensure smooth go-lives.
The Manager, Solution Design & Implementation is responsible for leading technical discovery, solution architecture, and API implementation of VoPay solutions from presales through onboarding and customer go-live. This includes owning the API integration approach for each client, designing data flows, troubleshooting integration issues, and implementing standardized patterns and best practices for VoPay’s platform. The role also drives the development of VoPay’s Solution Design framework, defining cross-functional processes and building the foundation for a future team of Solution Consultants/Implementation Specialists.
Role & Responsibilities
API Solution Design (Pre-Sales + Technical Discovery)
- Lead technical discovery to understand customer systems, data flows, and integration requirements.
- Design end-to-end integration architectures using VoPay’s APIs and webhook frameworks.
- Deliver technical demos, API walkthroughs, and proofs-of-concept.
- Create solution designs that balance performance, security, compliance, and scalability.
Implementation & Delivery (Own the API Integration)
- Act as the primary technical point of contact for customers from contract signature to go-live.
- Guide customer engineering teams through implementation, including authentication, data mapping, webhooks, and error handling.
- Analyze logs, troubleshoot API responses, and resolve technical blockers with Engineering.
- Validate certification and UAT results to ensure integrations are production-ready.
- Manage multiple implementations simultaneously while maintaining timelines and quality.
- Respond to Zendesk tickets during onboarding to unblock customers quickly.
- Lead customer-facing calls, workshops, and training sessions with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Playbooks, Documentation & Standardization
- Create integration guides, industry-specific templates, and best practices for onboarding.
- Define certification testing steps, acceptance criteria, and integration patterns.
- Improve and standardize VoPay’s API implementation processes as the company scales.
- Define SLAs for integration-related support, and track progress with simple reporting (e.g., weekly account activation views).
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Sales & Product teams during solution design and with Customer Success during go-live transition.
- Provide structured feedback to Product & Engineering to influence roadmap and API improvements.
- Collaborate with Compliance on customer onboarding flows and API-driven data requirements.
Technical Skills
- 5+ years in a technical, customer-facing role (Solutions Architect, Implementation, Integration, etc.).
- Strong hands-on experience with RESTful APIs, JSON, webhooks, authentication, and error handling.
- Confident using Postman (or similar) to test, debug, and document API flows.
- Comfortable reading API docs/specs and translating them into clear integration steps.
- Able to map data between systems and work with basic queries / BI models.
- Experience working with Jira, Confluence, Zendesk, HubSpot in a project/ticket-based environment.
- Strong customer-facing communication skills; able to lead calls, workshops, and training sessions.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple implementations at once.
- Fintech/payments or banking experience is a strong plus.
Range based on experience: $90-110K based on experience.
