The Trust and Safety team is expanding, and we need passionate, motivated professional contractors who are committed to protecting user experience. The Intellectual Property domain of the Trust & Safety team plays a vital role in enforcing the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) by determining the validity of these notices and taking the necessary actions to comply with the Copyright Act, including notifying the relevant parties accordingly. Trust & Safety contractors play a vital role in enforcing our Community Guidelines.
In this role you will become a subject matter expert in investigating reports of alleged copyright infringements published onto the Wattpad platform. Other responsibilities will include active platform searches and investigations of well-known infringing works, and occasional project-based work.
Please note this is an independent contractor role.
What you’ll be doing:
Contribute equitably to the zeroing of your specified Zendesk buckets daily, and are responsible for contributing equitably to the completion of daily queues in team specific tools.
Contribute equitably to the handling of staff escalations.
Conduct objective, fair, thorough, evidence based, unbiased and timely investigations into reported cases of copyright infringement.
Understand and enforce Wattpad’s Terms of Service and the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA).
Escalate reports to relevant teams (when needed) within Wattpad.
Identify trends and current events to assist with strategy adjustments, policy research and analysis.
Work with the rest of Trust & Safety and the Community Support teams to track and resolve bugs and other technical issues
Dynamic and stretch responsibilities can change and evolve as the team and business needs shift. To be determined by the Team Manager/Director/Head.
Each contractor may have different responsibilities based on team and business needs and/or Domain gap.
Ticket numbers will be defined on an individual basis by your domain manager.
Requirements:
Good understanding of copyright law (Canadian and US)
Experience answering user reports
Ability to be agile
Commitment to give and receive feedback with empathy and in a timely manner
Comfortable doing monotonous work daily
Technical knowledge and familiarity with Zendesk and Google Suite are assets, but not strictly necessary
